Several families met in September 1970 with Pastor Marlin Mentz starting a new Lutheran congregation in Douglasville, Georgia. In June 1971 Pastor Mentz was installed at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church as their full time pastor. The Congregation began to grow and was soon able to add an educational wing, and at that time one pre-kindergarten and two kindergarten classes began. In 1981 the congregation built a larger church on Highway 5 in Douglasville.
Since that time the church has enjoyed being part of the Douglasville community. Prince of Peace offers pre-school classes, Mothers’ Morning Out, and other church activities. As of 2012 the learning Center has been State approved.
